Modelling Case-Based Reasoning in Situation-Aware Disaster Management

چکیده
Situation-aware disaster management (SADIM) is a continuous decision-making and action taking process. This process requires prior knowledge of the ongoing environment context. SADIM comprises two major processes: situation awareness (SA) - cognitive that assesses current situations anticipate future in environment; and, (DM) which preventing, preparing, responding, recovering for from disaster. Situation Assessment in Disaster Management
We present a framework for decision-making in relation to disaster management with a focus on situation assessment during disaster management monitoring. The use of causality reasoning based on the temporal evolution of a scenario provides a natural way to chain meaningful events and possible states of the system. There are usually different ways to analyse a problem and different strategies to...
متن کاملDeveloping Situation-Aware Applications for Disaster Management with a Distributed Rule-Based platform
In order to enhance interoperability and productivity in the development of situation-aware applications for disaster management, proper mechanisms and guidelines are required. They must address the lack of semantics in modelling emergency situations. In addition, the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of disaster scenarios present challenges for information processing and collaboration. Th...
متن کاملIs 'Context-Aware Reasoning = Case-Based Reasoning'?
The purpose of this paper is to explore the similarities and differences and then argue for the potential synergies between two methodologies, namely Context-aware Reasoning and Case-based Reasoning, that are amongst the tools which can be used for intelligent environment (IE) system development. Through a case study supported by a review of the literature, we argue that context awareness and c...
متن کاملFrom Situation Modelling to a Distributed Rule-Based Platform for Situation Awareness: An Ontological Framework for Disaster Management Applications
Situation-aware (SA) applications are particularly useful for disaster management. The complex nature of emergency scenarios presents challenges to the development of collaborative and distributed SA solutions. These challenges concern the whole lifecycle, from specification to implementation phases, such as how to model the reaction behavior of a detected situation and how to provide an intero...
متن کاملCase-Based Reasoning for Situation-Aware Ambient Intelligence: A Hospital Ward Evaluation Study
Ambient intelligent systems are defined as being able to perceive their environment, being aware of the presence of people and other agents, and respond intelligently to these agents’ needs. Today the hardware requirements for achieving these capabilities are met. Earlier work have argued that knowledge intensive case-based reasoning is a feasible method for ambient intelligence. In this paper ...
